Full job description
Associate Business Director role based in Tokyo supporting new business acquisition and account development in Japan market within sales organization. Responsibilities include prospecting, closing new business, renewal and upsell negotiations, meeting sales targets, supporting senior directors, applying product knowledge, client engagement, managing CRM processes, and developing market intelligence. Requires 2+ years experience in ad tech, digital advertising, or related field, understanding of digital advertising ecosystem, strong communication skills in Japanese and English, and ability to work onsite in Tokyo at least 3 days per week. Eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and benefits.
What you'll do
- Support prospecting, identification, and closing of new business with advertisers and agencies in Japan
- Lead renewal and upsell negotiations for existing clients with Account Management teams
- Meet personal quarterly/annual revenue sales targets
- Shadow and support senior Business Directors during testing and closing processes
- Co-plan negotiations and sales tactics with senior Business Directors
- Apply knowledge of DV products to articulate value to prospects and clients
- Craft follow-up communications highlighting product features and value
- Develop understanding of digital media ecosystem
- Sell DV solutions using pre-negotiated contracts and rates
- Assist with content requests for tutorial guides, videos, and Sales Stories for Japanese market
- Conduct research on brands and agencies ahead of meetings
- Handle light client objections with guidance
- Build network and relationships with junior-to-mid level stakeholders
- Conduct basic mapping of account stakeholders and needs
- Shadow and support senior sellers during testing process to learn workflows
- Follow process guidelines for testing and deal management
- Manage all DV CRM required processes (Salesforce)
- Develop knowledge of media maths, ad verification, and ecosystem fit
- Apply basic performance and brand metrics for campaign measurement
- Stay current on DV product updates and share learnings
- Serve as sales buddy for new hires in Japan team
- Assist with content requests for tutorial guides, videos, and Sales Stories
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in ad tech, digital advertising, media sales, or related field
- Understanding of digital advertising ecosystem including DSPs, ad servers, programmatic advertising, social platform advertising
- Solution-oriented approach to identify client business objectives and translate into value propositions
- Experience handling client objections and managing deals through sales cycle
- Skilled at building and maintaining sales pipeline
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Team player mindset with experience working collaboratively with internal teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Japanese (native-level) and English (business-level)
- Available to work from Tokyo office minimum 3 days per week
