Full job description

The Trade Desk is seeking a senior Business Development Associate Director with 8-10+ years of experience in digital advertising sales, preferably in programmatic environments. The role involves establishing and cultivating strategic partnerships with key advertisers and senior leaders at advertising agencies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating the value of the media buying platform, leading RFP responses, negotiating contracts, and identifying up-selling opportunities. Candidates must have strong communication, negotiation, and quantitative skills, experience managing senior relationships, and proficiency in English and Cantonese.

What you'll do

  • Establish strategic partnership and frameworks with key advertisers
  • Acquire, build, and cultivate relationships with senior leaders at advertising agencies
  • Work collaboratively with teams spanning commercial, legal, account management, trading, data and inventory partnerships and TAM to cultivate and grow accounts
  • Communicate the value of The Trade Desk media buying platform by presenting core value proposition tailored to each audience
  • Establish strategic frameworks to encourage testing of innovative product releases based on client needs with senior leadership, product, and engineering
  • Lead responses to RFPs or new client opportunities, including qualification and win strategy
  • Prospect and negotiate net new MSAs (partnership contracts) and JBPs (Joint Business Plans) with key advertisers
  • Coordinate with global counterparts to share learnings and avoid pitfalls
  • Work closely with product, marketing and revenue teams to optimize efforts relating to company-wide goals
  • Identify and close strategic up-selling opportunities by understanding core client business needs and translating the value TTD offers
  • Identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators using market and competitor knowledge
  • Accurately manage and communicate monthly forecasts and pipeline

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of experience in digital advertising sales, managing senior relationships, ideally within a programmatic environment
  • Experience with advertising ecosystem; advertisers, online publishers, ad network, ad exchange, and agency dynamics
  • Experience with creating annual business plans and conducting business reviews
  • Excellent collaborator who can work with individuals in varying teams with differing priorities
  • Programmatic platform sales experience highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak with C-level clients
  • Ability to deconstruct complex topics and translate them to audiences in a digestible way
  • Strong quantitative skills and negotiation ability
  • Passion and curiosity for the programmatic space and desire to build on industry knowledge
  • Consistent strive for excellence
  • High emotional intelligence with a good sense of humour
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue expectations
  • Proficient in English and Cantonese
