Full job description

The Tax Analyst will manage international tax compliance and reporting for the Smartly group, supporting direct and indirect tax matters including corporation tax and sales tax/VAT/GST across multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities include preparing and submitting tax returns, reviewing accounting balances for tax accuracy, managing global mobility and fringe benefit tax compliance, maintaining the tax compliance calendar, improving processes and controls, and collaborating with internal teams and external advisors. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, 3+ years of relevant experience, knowledge of tax accounting and international tax law, strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, and preferably experience with NetSuite. What you'll do

  • Support all direct and indirect tax matters, particularly corporation tax and sales tax/VAT/GST, across multiple jurisdictions
  • Prepare and submit tax returns timely and ensure payments are made/received by tax authorities
  • Review accuracy and integrity of accounting balances recording tax, including monthly/quarterly/annual tax calculations
  • Manage global mobility and fringe benefit tax compliance and employer-related tax obligations
  • Maintain tax compliance calendar and update for new filing/payment obligations
  • Continuously improve processes, controls, and documentation to manage risk and create efficiencies
  • Establish effective working relationships within tax/finance team and other business units
  • Work with external advisors and tax authorities; assist/support audit responses and enquiries

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in a similar tax, finance, and/or accounting role
  • Understanding of direct/indirect tax, tax accounting, international tax law, and transfer pricing
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheet skills
  • Experience with NetSuite is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Work well as part of a team and independently
