The Trade Desk seeks a Director of Talent and Performance Management to develop and implement talent and performance management frameworks aligned with organizational goals. Responsibilities include leading the Talent Management Center of Excellence, designing performance management strategies, overseeing job architecture, succession planning, career development frameworks, and collaborating with People teams and senior leaders. The role requires a Master's degree in HR or related field, 5+ years experience in HR or talent management, strong communication, analytical skills, and ability to operate in ambiguity. What you'll do

  • Lead the Talent Management Center of Excellence as a hub for best practices, tools, and resources
  • Design and implement performance management strategy, including measurement, differentiation, and connection to compensation and promotion
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive job architecture system outlining job families, levels, and career pathways
  • Create and execute succession planning strategy including talent profiles, assessments, reviews, action planning, and bench strength
  • Build and enhance career development frameworks and tools such as skills assessments, career planning guides, progression pathways, and internal mobility initiatives
  • Act as a trusted consultant to People Advisory Partners advising on tailored People strategies for business units
  • Collaborate with People teams to deliver integrated organizational effectiveness solutions
  • Partner with Senior Director of Organizational Effectiveness to support competency development, activation, embedding, and organizational design initiatives
  • Partner with Compensation to align performance management outputs with pay for performance and compensation review processes
  • Cultivate strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders to align talent and performance strategies
  • Navigate ambiguity confidently, take ownership of unclear workstreams, make pragmatic decisions, and iterate strategy quickly

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in human resources, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, talent management, competency development, succession planning or a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in performance management strategy, design, and implementation
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective talent management frameworks and programs
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational design, including designing and embedding scalable frameworks, is preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
  • Thrives in ambiguity and comfortable operating without a fully defined playbook
  • Adapts quickly when direction shifts and acts without waiting for perfect information
