Full job description

The Trade Desk seeks mid-level full-time Software Engineers with 2-5 years of hands-on experience to design, build, and deliver data-focused products. Candidates should have strong communication skills, experience or interest in machine learning operations, and a passion for building scalable back-end infrastructure and always-on distributed systems. Experience with Spark and machine learning models is a plus. Responsibilities include product strategy participation, technical leadership, mentoring, and ownership of technical milestones. The role requires a product-focused mindset and ability to collaborate cross-functionally. What you'll do

  • Participate actively in all aspects of product strategy from design to delivery
  • Work on large-scale distributed systems coordinating thousands of servers globally
  • Handle petabyte-scale data challenges, machine learning, advanced visualizations, and interactive user interfaces
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to local teams
  • Own technical milestones and projects including task planning, coding, and code reviews
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to improve workflows and efficiency
  • Build back-end infrastructure with a focus on quality at scale
  • Develop web services and always-on systems
  • Contribute to building a better, more open internet through principled advertising

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of impactful hands-on software engineering experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Passion for improving efficiency of others, especially in Machine Learning Operations
  • Experience building large scale data pipelines with Spark is a plus
  • Experience building machine learning models is a plus
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or relevant engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to understand the 'why' behind tasks and projects
  • Ownership of technical milestones and projects from inception to completion
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to work from first principles
  • Broad engineering skills, accustomed to developing web services
  • Experience building always-on systems across various technologies and service layers
  • Product-focused mindset
  • Ability to contribute to discovering client needs and advancing industry openness and transparency
  • Confidence and leadership in daily work
