Full job description

Senior Cloud Software Engineer role at Merkle in Sofia. Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable event-driven backend services on AWS using Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and Step Functions. Develop performant Lambda functions with cold-start mitigation and idempotency. Architect cloud infrastructure with IaC tools (AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation) and manage deployments. Build and maintain secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs. Own and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions with automated testing and security scanning. Model and query relational (PostgreSQL/Aurora) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases. Instrument serverless systems for observability and monitoring. Work in Scrum teams and use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity. Requires 7+ years backend engineering experience, strong TypeScript and Node.js skills, deep AWS serverless expertise, and ability to lead architectural decisions. AWS certification and Kubernetes/EKS or Serverless Framework experience are a plus.
