Full job description
Senior Director Data Engineer role focused on technical leadership, client advisory, and delivery of complex data transformation programs using Databricks. Responsibilities include leading pre-sales technical engagements, developing business cases, maintaining client relationships, delivering Databricks-based solutions, mentoring engineers, and contributing to practice knowledge. Requires 8+ years in cloud data platform implementations, 3+ years hands-on Databricks experience, advanced SQL and Python skills, data modeling expertise, and strong client communication. Preferred certifications include Databricks Data Engineer or Solutions Architect. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, Prefect), and AI coding assistants is expected. Salary range $113,000 - $175,000. Requirements
8+ years building data platform implementations on cloud data warehouses
At least 3 years hands-on experience with Databricks (SQL, Python, DLT, Unity Catalog or equivalent)
Advanced SQL and Python; ability to code production-quality data pipelines without oversight
Deep experience with relational and lakehouse data modeling; design of Customer 360 and conformed data models
Experience leading complex, multi-phase delivery programs
Exceptional client-facing communication skills; comfortable presenting to C-suite and technical audiences
Ability to build credibility and trust with client stakeholders across technical and business functions
Experience with data observability, pipeline automation, and formal change control in production environments
Regular use of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
Active use of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure); working knowledge of cloud data architecture
Strongly preferred: Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Solutions Architect Certification
Engagement with Databricks thought leadership (community, speaking, knowledge-sharing)
Experience with Databricks AI capabilities
Experience with governance and Unity Catalog at enterprise scale
Hands-on experience with modern data orchestration (Airflow, Prefect, dbt)
Experience contributing to pre-sales/discovery engagements
Experience with adjacent platforms (Adobe AEP/RTCDP, Salesforce Data Cloud, cloud analytics platforms)
Mentoring experience with junior engineers
