Full job description

Smadex is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to improve availability, scalability, and security of production systems. The role requires 5+ years in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering, expertise in AWS (primary), GCP, Oracle Cloud, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, Jenkins, and GitLab. Responsibilities include designing infrastructure, owning code lifecycle, managing multi-cloud deployments, ensuring system reliability and security, collaborating with teams, and incident management. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field, experience in high-growth scale-ups, and strong English communication skills. The position is full-time, hybrid, located in Barcelona, Spain. What you'll do

  • Design and implement the future infrastructure to elevate performance and reliability
  • Take full ownership of code from design to production, including testing, deployment, and monitoring
  • Deploy and manage applications across multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Oracle Cloud)
  • Ensure high availability, massive scalability, and robust security of all production systems
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and system enhancements
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure issues to maintain <100ms response time standards
  • Ensure all systems adhere to strict security and compliance policies and procedures

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related infrastructure field
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Proven track record in a high-growth environment and experience navigating technical challenges of a scale-up transitioning into a global company
  • Expert-level knowledge of AWS (primary), with additional experience in GCP or Oracle Cloud
  • Strong experience managing and migrating applications using diverse cloud-based architectures
  • Deep knowledge of Linux servers and extensive experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Advanced proficiency with automation and configuration tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash to automate repetitive tasks and build internal tooling
  • Deep experience in building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
