Full job description

Liftoff seeks a Director to lead Deal Desk within Strategic Finance, reporting to VP of Strategic Finance. The role manages commercial agreements, revenue adjustments, deal economics, and ensures financial integrity of deals. Responsibilities include ownership of revenue adjustments, reconciliation, cross-functional collaboration, deal structuring, financial modeling, performance reporting, cash flow monitoring, accrual reviews, and managing a Senior Analyst. Requires 10+ years in commercial finance or related fields, with 5+ years in deal structuring. Strong skills in financial modeling, revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and communication with senior leadership are essential. Remote role with preference for Pacific Time Zone and San Francisco Bay Area. Compensation varies by location, including base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you'll do

  • Serve as DRI for all revenue adjustments in weekly reporting
  • Maintain reconciliation checks and ensure adjustments are accurate and explainable
  • Work proactively with cross-functional partners to incorporate new intel before weekly close
  • Lead weekly alignment meetings with FP&A team and communicate variance explanations
  • Own all deal types end-to-end from standard to complex arrangements
  • Maintain and enforce Deal Desk approval matrix
  • Lead bi-annual Deal Desk Strategy Review with senior leadership
  • Define commercial logic and deal structure philosophy
  • Lead upfront diligence and financial modeling for non-standard deals
  • Lead weekly cross-functional reviews on active non-standard deals
  • Produce monthly performance updates with variance analysis for senior leadership
  • Monitor cash flows and financial commitments on structured deals
  • Own and lead accrual review for all key Deal Desk items
  • Maintain defensible positions on accrual levels with supporting data
  • Manage and mentor a Senior Analyst

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial finance, deal desk, revenue operations, or strategic finance
  • At least 5 years with direct ownership over deal structuring or commercial agreements
  • Ability to evaluate complex deal economics independently
  • Experience building defensible financial models
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and commercial deal management operations
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to hold a position under commercial pressure
  • Track record of direct responsibility and ownership (DRI)
  • Excellent communication skills, experience presenting to CXO-level audiences
  • Nice to have: Ad tech, programmatic advertising, or mobile experience
